Worship is most often regarded as the act of singing songs of praise to God during a church service or listening to Christian music in our homes, our cars, or our earbuds as we go about our day. And these are all beautiful examples – but to reduce the definition down to just this would be a tragic misunderstanding of the true heart of worship. It’s not just something you do; it’s the way you live.
Worship is acknowledging the greatness of God through music.
But worship is also sitting in the silence with Him
It’s crying at His feet
It’s journaling your prayers
It’s reading your Bible
It’s thanking Him for the sunrise
It’s showing kindness to a stranger
It’s listening to a friend
It’s loving a spouse
It’s playing with your kids
It’s a way of life
“Beloved friends, what should be our proper response to God’s marvelous mercies? I encourage you to surrender yourselves to God to be his sacred, living sacrifices. And live in holiness, experiencing all that delights his heart. For this becomes your genuine expression of worship.” Romans 12:1
Worship abounds wherever we use the tapestry of our lives to make much of God.
